I went a little overboard again this year, which led to things like sitting up in bed at 3am and writing furiously because I'd just had an idea for a Yuletide treat and gone temporarily insane. In order of writing, then.

Roses in Vancouver (Pat/Hilary, May Binnie - Pat of Silver Bush)
Of Pat, and places left behind her. )

noli me tangere (Anne Boleyn, Henry Percy, George Boleyn - Historical RPF)
Noli me tangere, for Caesar's I am/And wild for to hold, though I seem tame. )

A Gentleman of Taste (Freddy/Kitty - Cotillion)
Five trials that the Honourable Frederick Standen endured with sang-froid and savoir-faire, or would have if he'd spoken a word of French. )

The Princess and the Duck (Ahiru/Rue - Princess Tutu)
Some fairy-tales have happy endings. Some don't. )

I Corinthians 13 (Richard/Alec - Swordspoint)
Richard and Alec are not exactly what you'd call ideal. )

jeté en avant (Sebastian/Veronica - Sadlers Wells)
Sebastian's irritated, Fiona's on the rampage and Veronica is mostly resigned to it all. A happy Scott family Christmas. )

The Sweets of Pillage (Bunny/Raffles - Raffles)
Three things which may or may not have happened to Harry Manders. )

Gender Roles and Other Negotiable Territory (Tommy/Tuppence - Agatha Christie's Beresford books)
Someone has to clean the flat. It's not going to be Tuppence. )

Status: Undelivered (Wilfred Owen - Historical RPF)
Letter written Saturday 2nd November 1918. Author unidentified. )

Tree of Life (Ogden/Murdoch - Murdoch Mysteries)
Why is there foliage on my desk, Detective Murdoch? )

Variations on a Friday Afternoon (Todd/Lovett, Judge/prostitute, Anthony/Johanna - Sweeney Todd)
Three ways to spend a Friday afternoon. )

Well, um, that was lengthy. If you've read this far, thank you for bearing with me.

SOMEONE WROTE A SEBASTIAN/VERONICA FIC FOR ME AND IT ROCKED LIKE A ROCKING THING. Because! It has Sebastian being Very, Very Bitter about ballet and everyone else gently pointing out that actually, he likes ballet Rather A Lot, and he should maybe get over himself. Andandand SEBASTIAN. Being sulky and oblivious to other people!

ALSO SOMEONE WROTE A ROBIN/AMON OR, REALLY, ROBIN-AMON FIC FOR ME, AND OH OH Robin is lonely! Amon gets it! They're so not saying anything sweet to each other, but they make my heart so happy.

Also, I got Dancer in Danger by Lorna Hill, which I've been looking for for five years. Now I am only one book away from sweet Annette/Angus awesomeness!

Everyone got their Yuletide fics done?

I'm kind of getting into Kuroshitsuji - it's kind of like Count Cain with worse art (much as I like Sebastian's character design) and possibly more historical accuracy. Possibly, I say. I'm not saying much.

I'm also falling desperately in love with New Tricks, which is a British cold case cop show and - I think that's why it's shot right up there with my favourite programmes (aside from the excellent writing, the believable characters and the continuity between episodes). The cold cases, when they're historical, are about things I know about, which I've heard my family talk about. The first episode I watched was about a case from 1975 involving a dockworkers' strike - the sort of thing my dad was all about, at the time. There's an instant recognition factor which I don't - can't - get with American programmes, by definition. (Additionally, I'd just been studying the mid-1970s for an essay, so I think that was another reason why I clicked with it so fast.)

Going to watch Murdoch Mysteries again. Whee.

I forgot to do a round-up of the Yuletide fics I wrote:

Snow White and Rose Red (What Katy Did | Clover/Rose Red)
"O, my luve is like a red, red rose/That's newly sprung in June." Clover and Rose Red are living a dream.

Spider's Web (Greco-Roman mythology | Odysseus/Penelope)
Odysseus thinks that it was all his own idea. Penelope knows better.

Adore Our Own Athena (The Odyssey | Odysseus/Penelope, implied Odysseus/Athena/Penelope)
Penelope takes comfort in religion. Athena fulfils her promises.

call no man happy until he is dead (Count Cain | gen, implied Riff/Cain)
At this moment, Cain is happy.

The Truth of Others (A Song of Ice and Fire | Rhaegar/Lyanna)
All people know about Rhaegar and Lyanna is what suits their purposes.

The Cub's First Cub (Devil's Cub | Vidal/Mary)
Vidal awaited the birth of his first child with characteristic patience; that is to say, none.

Some Justice (Discworld - Night Watch | Carcer, Death)
A long drop and a short stop and Carcer's always got a plan. Pity it doesn't work.

Cry for Yesterday (The Chronicles of Narnia | Lucy, Edmund, Susan, Peter)
Susan finds it hard to cope with normal life. Lucy just doesn't want to.

A Splendid Orgy (Venetia | Damerel/Venetia)
The aftermath of a frankly magnificent orgy.

Something Less Than Ideal (Arthurian legend | Galahad, implied pairings)
Galahad's vow of chastity doesn't stop him wanting. Even if he wants to.

do not take thy flight (Emily of New Moon | Dean/Emily)
During their engagement, Dean is free to indulge in some adoration.

Claustrophobia (Swordspoint | Alec/Richard)
After the events of Swordspoint, Alec lies awake.

Mistletoe and Wine (Eight Days of Luke | Luke/David)
Luke comes home for Christmas.

the physicians of a mind diseased (The Secret History | Francis, Francis/Charles)
Francis loves words. He just wishes they worked for him.

Like David and Jonathan (The Bible - Old Testament | David/Jonathan)
"Like David and Jonathan". But what does that actually mean?

Turnabout (Chrestomanci - The Lives of Christopher Chant | Rosalie/Mordecai)
During TLoCC, Rosalie and Mordecai have a short, but quite important, conversation.

The Time For Parting Come (Chrestomanci - The Lives of Christopher Chant | Millie/Christopher)
Millie is going away to school again. Christopher sulks.

Duologue For Would-Be Lovers (Shakespeare - Romeo and Juliet | Romeo/Mercutio)
Romeo pines. Mercutio taunts him, to his own ultimate detriment.

The Wandering Jamie (The Homeward Bounders | Jamie, implied Jamie/Helen)
Jamie moves on.

Persuasion (The Prisoner of Zenda | Rupert of Hentzau/Count of Luzau-Rischenheim)
The Count of Luzau-Rischenheim, I am sorry to say, was entirely under Rupert's thumb.

Out of Narnia (The Chronicles of Narnia | Lucy)
Lucy, not feeling very valiant at all.

Yuletide is (sort of) officially over! Now to reply to comments, of which I have just over 200. I wrote a lot of Yuletide fics...

Now is a good time to rec the fantastic Yuletide story which was written for me. Always: Time Will Bring Their Hour by [ profile] kenazfiction is a superb story in The Charioteer fandom. It's about Alec, and Sandy, and why they stay together when their relationship's such a mess, why in particular Alec stays with Sandy. Their relationship here is realistic - if heartbreaking - and incredibly fascinating. The writing itself is beautifully crafted.

Fic rec!

Heeeeey, someone wrote Yuletide fic.

I mean, 1291 people have written Yuletide fic. But only one person so far has written Yuletide fic. As in, Yuletide-as-a-fandom fic. And it's a crossover with Gundam Wing.

See, I knew you'd want to read it. For the meta.

Oh, God. Never code Greek letters into html, it's a nightmare. I only did a few sentences and I wanted to cry. On the upside, I'm really excited for Yuletide. I've written...five stories for it so far (the fifth's just about to go up). And I'm thinking of two or three more. Yuletide Madness, indeed.
