I watched the BBC version of Persuasion today. Which is very good and very pretty, but I discovered that I have a predisposition to love whatever character Sam West plays simply because he's being played by Sam West. This is frequently a good thing, such as in Cambridge Spies or Hornblower, but less so when he's playing Mr Elliot. Damn it.

Just finished watching a documentary about Mozart. There was a caption at the end which stated firmly and categorically that "Mozart was not poisoned. He did not die in poverty." If they'd read it out, the voiceover would have sounded really peeved. I love myths.

Oddly enough, the most popular result for "Good Omens" on Amazon.co.uk is "Buenos Presagios", which I presume is the Spanish translation. The English version is lower down.

"Pray-as-you-go - Top-Ups inside"
- a real sign outside a Baptist church

So, what good deals would you get if you signed up with the GOD network? Unlimited credit? A signal wherever you were, even stranded in the catacombs of a South American temple in the Amazon rainforest? Would all your ringtones be your favourite hymns?

Crap, now I've got "Jesus is the Telephone Repairman on the Switchboard of My Life" stuck in my head.

If there's one historical personage I'd love to exhume and punch in the face, it's Lord Alfred Douglas.

So, are there any people in history that you'd like to kill (again)?
